Calibration

Test and Measurement (T&M) equipment, such as OTDRs, need to be sent back for calibration at certain time intervals (recommended calibration intervals are usually indicated by the manufacturer in user manuals or other product documentation). Calibration is a critical process and ensures that the instrument meets published specifications.

Even top-of-the-line measuring devices degrade in performance. Calibration restores accuracy of the readings and fosters true field efficiency.

Calibration by service centers that are certified by the manufacturer usually provide the following compounded benefits:

  • As-found and as-left performance results
  • Calibration adjustments
  • Full performance verification
  • Connector replacements (as needed)
  • Preventive maintenance

Usually, an RMA request is filled out prior to a return for calibration or repairs. Looking for EXFO’s RMA portal? Follow this link.
