And the winner is…

A pat on the back always lifts up the spirit to help you keep going and carry on the good work. And this pat is even more rewarding when it comes from several industry institutions – all concurring that your organization’s excellence in a specific domain deserves to be highlighted. EXFO won a lot of recognition last year, with nothing less than 6 awards for its latest innovations:

In February, EXFO received the 2015 Frost & Sullivan New Product Innovation Award to acknowledge EXFO’s innovation in the performance monitoring market for network operators thanks to its new open analytics platform. According to Frost & Sullivan, EXFO has consolidated its leadership position with EXFO Xtract solution, which has broken the mold of conventional monitoring by providing a holistic view of the network infrastructure and service performance delivery.

In March, EXFO obtained a 2015 Lightwave Innovation Award Elite Score of 4.0 in the Field Test Equipment category to highlight that EXFO scored an elite product rating for its 10M‑to‑100G multiservice test solution, the FTB-88100NGE Power Blazer on FTB-2 Pro with EXFO TFv. According to Lightwave, EXFO’s multiservice testing solution stood out for its ability to address both 40G/100G mass deployments and field upgrades, as well as lower-rate client service turn-ups. The solution was also praised for the wide range of technologies it covers, such as SONET/SDH, OTN and Ethernet.

In June, EXFO won the 2015 Leading Light Award in the Outstanding Test and Measurement Vendor category, which is attributed to the telecom test and measurement vendor that stands out from its competitors, innovates constantly, helps set industry trends, makes investors proud, and makes employees happy. According to Light Reading, EXFO rose above the competition by offering operators and service providers innovative and comprehensive solutions that are tailored to overcome field and operational challenges—all while reducing CAPEXs and accelerating their time to revenue.

In September, EXFO's FIP-435 Fiber Inspection Probe received both a 2015 Cabling Innovators Gold Award and a BTR's 2015 Diamond Technology Reviews Score of 4.0. Receiving such an award from Broadband Technology Report (BTR), which covers the CableTV/MSO industry, and from Cabling Installation & Maintenance (CI&M), which focuses on the Data-Center and enterprise structured cabling industry, certainly proves that the FIP-435B is a key testing tool in different industries that face similar challenges. The FIP-435B automatically centers and focuses, therefore improves the whole inspection process and eliminates variation in test results. It also takes into account new applications like fiber-to-the-antenna, which involves the installation of high-precision optical gear at the top of towers. A pass/fail LED on top of the probe eliminates the need to consult data displayed on the screen, which can be kept in the technician’s pocket thanks to its Wi-Fi functionality and its compatibility with Android and iOS smart devices. As mentioned in CI&M magazine, Robert Stone of General Dynamics calls FIP-435B a game-changer for 10-Gig requirements, and Lester Sebetka of Price Industrial Electric says that using the FIP-435B makes fiber inspection a breeze.

Recently, EXFO also received, for the fifth year in a row, Frost & Sullivan’s 2015 Portable Fiber-Optic Test Equipment Market Share Leadership Award. The award acknowledges that EXFO consolidated its hold on first place in the portable FOTE market by growing 6% compared to 4% for the industry in 2014 based on same-competitor and same-product sales year-over-year.
