The OIF MSA standard has introduced a few WDM interfaces that leverage digital coherent optics (DCO). OIF 400ZR and OpenZR+ are the most popular ones, used for optimal connectivity in data center interconnect and metro applications. These transceivers support long-distance interconnections (see figure below with test configurations). To date, the most popular rates for these coherent network transceivers are 100G, 200G, 300G and 400G.
